While looking to spend $$$ on a gift card that I received, I saw a book on amazon.com that had an incredible rating. Out of 65+ reviews, it had an average of 4.9 out of 5 stars. The reviews raved how this was the most helpful book on teaching reading they ever read. As good as it boasted, I feel it is even better. The clear and easy to use techniques have been more helpful than anything I have ever taught my students in 20+ years of teaching.

The book is Notice & Note by Kylene Beers & Robert E. Probst.

I highly recommend it for any teacher grades 3-8 and probably for grades 9-12 as well. If you feel you don't have much time, the first 5 chapters through p. 33 are mostly common sense and could be skipped.

Anyone else come across this gem of a book?

I have this book and LOVE it! Unfortunately, I got it too late in the summer to put it in to practice (and do it well) this school year. I feel like it's something that definitely needs to be introduced early and spiraled. But it's definitely a genius idea and one that I plan on incorporating in the future.

Getting my. Masters in literacy and my program uses a lot of books from beers. I find them all valuable but haven't heard of that one! I'll definitely be checking it out, thanx!

Wonderful, useful book. The authors are working on a nonfiction version as well.
