My school has decided to host an open house/Thanksgiving program the week before Thanksgiving. The director of the preschool has asked that each class prepare and perform a Thanksgiving poem or song for the parents. I have a mixed class of 3's, 4's, and some who have just turned 5. Does anyone have a poem or song for thanksgiving that the kids would enjoy showing their parents? Thanks!

A turkey is a funny bird,
    his head goes wobble, wobble
And he says just 1 word,
    Gobble, gobble , gobble

I don't usually use all of these, but here are a few I've used over the years...

A turkey is a funny bird
    His head goes wobble, wobble.
    He knows only one word.
    Gobble, gobble, gobble

    Five Little Turkeys
Five little turkeys behind a stack of hay.
The first one said, “I really hate this day.”
The second one said, “There’s a farmer over there!
The third one said, “But we don’t have a prayer.”
The fourth one said, “This isn’t any fun!”
The fifth one said, “Let’s run and run and run!”
So they all took a deep breath,
    And off like a shot,
The five little turnkeys escaped from the pot!”

    Six Little Pilgrims
There were 6 little Pilgrims on Thanksgiving Day,
And this is what I heard them say,
The first one said, "I'll have a turkey leg."
The second one said, "I'll have a boiled egg."
The third one said, "I'll have some green peas."
The fourth one said, "I'll have cranberries, please."
The fifth one said, "I'll have pumpkin pie."
The sixth one said, "I'll have cake by and by."
There were 6 little Pilgrims on Thanksgiving Day,
And that's exactly what I heard them say.

“Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble,” says the bird.
“Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble,” says the bird.
    Mr. Turkey gobble-gobbles,
    And his head goes wobble-wobble,
“Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble,” says the bird.

    Who's Stuffed?

    Turkey
    Stuffing
    Gravy
    Corn and squash
    Cranberries
    And pumpkin pie, too.
    I'm not sure
    Who's really stuffed
    The turkey or you!

I’m a little Indian on the go
    Here is my arrow
    Here is my bow.
    When I go hunting
    Hear me shout,
“Bear and buffalo, better watch out!”

    SONGS:
    Albuquerque the Turkey
    (tune: Oh My Darlin' Clementine)
    Albuquerque, he's my turkey,
And he's feathered and he's fine
And he wobbles and he gobbles
And I'm awfully glad he's mine.

He's the best pet you could get yet
Better than a dog or cat.
    Albuquerque, he's my turkey
And I'm awfully glad of that.

    Albuquerque, he's my turkey
He's so cozy in his bed
    Because for our Thanksgiving dinner,
    We had scrambled eggs instead.

(tune: The more we get together)
    Oh, I’m glad I’m not a turkey,
    A turkey, a turkey.
    Oh, I’m glad I’m not a turkey
    On Thanksgiving Day.
They stuff you and bake you
And then they all taste you.
    Oh, I’m glad I’m not a turkey
    On Thanksgiving Day!

(tune: Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
    Sail, sail, sail our ship,
    Slowly across the sea.
A difficult trip it certainly was,
    But Pilgrims now are free.

    Good Luck!

Oh, and I put this one on a placemat with a handprint turkey and tiny die cut leaves in a pattern around the outside.

This isn’t just a turkey as anyone can see.
I made it with my hand, which is a part of me.
It comes with lots of love. Especially to say,
I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day!
