I am a Special Ed teacher, but I am posting on a couple boards. I was wondering what stories or books will you be using for your classes? I am thinking for a couple of my reading groups doing the Magic Tree House Thanksgiving on Thursday, but for my fifth graders I am not sure what I want to do with them yet. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

You could use Molly's Pilgrim. I read this with my 3rd graders when I was student teaching and had some time the day before Thanksgiving.

I read Cranberry Thanksgiving. The next day I surprise the class with cranberry bread, using the recipe from the book. The story teaches a valuable lesson and is an excellent book for teaching/reinforcing character traits.

I would like something printable for low level readers (real low, 3rd grade ESL students reading on a guided reading A, B, C.

There are a few on reading a-z but they don't get too much into what Thanksgiving is/means.

    Any ideas?

Try edhelper.com. You have to pay, and their stuff isn't always great, but their printable books are usually pretty decent.

I like the middle one for a little bit older... it gives some nice information on first Thanksgiving...

I don't know if these will help...
