TG, or anyone else, can you explain Mathematics Instruction Endorsement Assessment?

So, TG, I looked at the MIAE, but I'm not fully understanding the purpose. According to the website, it is a "prerequisite for acceptance into educator preparation programs." So, for someone like me who already has my degree and credentials, is there another purpose to these tests?

This is a brand-new thing that just came to my notice today, Peachy.

Confusion, part 1: MIAE isn't an "it", it's a "they". It's two different tests.

Confusion, part 2: MIAE is pretty clearly intended for multiple subjects, but doesn't seem to be required for credentialing per se, but rather for authorizations beyond the basic credentialing.

If I read this document (http://www.ctc.ca.gov/notices/coded/2011/1105.pdf), correctly, one MIAE test seems to be intended for multiple subject teachers who need to teach math through the pre-algebra level - which is beyond what's tested in CSET-MS, thank you very much - and the other MIAE for math through Algebra I (which comes a bit short of what's required by CSET Math I and II for the Foundational-level Math credential).

The doc I cited also mentions a Mathematics Instructional Leadership Specialist Credential - one wonders whether that might not be something like a math coach, serving teachers who need help teaching math.
