Hello Everyone, Happy New Year!!!I am currently teaching at NYC but eventually planning to move to Texas. What are the requirements to teach in Texas if you NYC Certified? Do you still have to take the Texas State Exams? I am Early Childhood, childhood, and special education Certified. Any advice would help :)

    Thank you!!!

You will still need Texas certification. Have you looked on the SBEC and Texas Education Agency websites yet?

Texas does their own thing, and it always seems to entail more testing and money. If you passed the Praxis exams, the testing isn't a problem other that having to go to Texas to that the exams. Quite a money-maker for the state, I would guess. Good luck!

I think you may have to take Texas History as a requirement to be certified in TX.
