Temporary certificate

    I have a problem and i hope someone has the answer::(
    I have a temporary certificate and it is nonrenewable effective 6/30/2015. I have tried over and over again to pass the math GKT. Being that i wont have a job soon. Can i file for unemployment?

    Probably not, but your district HR office should have information about how unemployment in your state works for teachers in your position.

    I disagree. Why wouldn't you be eligible? You will be let go because you are not qualified for your job anymore. That usually means you are eligible for unemployment. You only don't get unemployment if you quit or were fired for gross misconduct, in most states.

    Applying for unemployment is like calling CPS. You don't know if you are qualified and it is up to the state to make that determination on their own. You can only supply the truthful facts. I would not bring up that you failed a test on your own....I would just say you were let go because you were not qualified.
