http://www.cnn.com/ Love him or hate him, it's the end of an era. And with Eunice Shriver's death last week, a brutal week for the Kennedy family.
Why does it seem when "it" hits for the Kennedy's they are really hit by "it"?!? I mean with last week's death & now this one. The poor family.
I didn't agree with his lifestyle or a lot of his views, but I do respect the work that he did for our country. One of the books we read for Political Science in college was about the first Health Care Bill. It really gave the reader a good idea of how a bill goes through the stages of being written, and put into law. It was very interesting, and one of the few books that I read all the way through. I don't know the name of it, but I probably still have it somewhere.
I think that, love them or hate them, most would probably agree that the Kennedy family (or at least that generation of them) had a strong sense of fighting for the underdog, whether in the area of civil rights, health care, or the disabled. Then again, I wonder what the Kopechne family is feeling today.
So sad... These news always make me think of my beloved ones...I am so blessed that all of my 3 grandparents (who are older than 77) are still doing well...
I heard it on the radio when I woke up last night and heard the news, so sad. I remember how courageous he was to come to the Democratic Convention to speak. they said not only was he weak from his cancer but fighting a kidney stone at the time. On MSNBC they were recalling stories this morning and some guy saw him at a Red Sox game with his current wife and his stepchildren. This man didn't really like Ted but said I saw how his stepkids interacted and the love between them and thought he can't be a bad man if they love him so much.
Hi all, let's leave the politics out of this. Thanks. I removed all political/debate posts to another thread in the debate forum and closed it. For those that don't know, we ask that political discussions be taken to a forum that is set up to moderate them. There are many places on the web where those topics can be discussed.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the senator, but I do admire the way he handled himself throughout his illness; never did I see any "woe is me, I have cancer, feel sorry for me!" attitude from him. I remember seeing him at the inauguration and thinking how fantastic he looked.
