Team leader does not equal everything for everyone. Be careful about what you take on. Don't feel like you have to do something someone else can do just because you're team leader.

Wow, did you read my mind! One reason I am nervous is because I feel like I have to do everything. I want this to be a good year for everyone.

    Nope! Delegate, facilitate, and moderate!

I'm a new team leader as well (9th grade after four years teaching 12th). Keep in touch so we can commiserate!

I will, hopefully we won't be so buried we don't have time to talk. I have to learn to take the advice of the previous poster and delegate. I suggest you do the same.

This is my fourth year as team leader. Definitely delegate. Be open with your team. Set deadlines. Be ready to problem solve anything - teaching issues, student issues, personality clashes. And at the end of the day - be ready to handle the fiddle-y things no one else wants to touch.

This will be my third year as a team lead. You don't have to do everything at once. Make sure to talk with your P about certain expectations he needs from you (for example- I have to take notes about our team meetings and turn them in), also I would ask a fellow teacher at your school who is/or has been a lead to see what they do (if you feel comfortable asking them). Deligate when necessary, be prepared for multiple personality types, and be firm when needed. Good Luck!

Add a treat or fun location once in a while.
