So I'm looking for music use in the classroom to go along with the curriculum. Of course, there is the classic stuff like "School House Rock", but besides that what is some good educational music? Any recommendations?

The Rappin' Mathematician Volume I CD. Have used it for 4-5 years, now....love it and kids do, too. Very effective. :) Alex Kajitani was the 2009 Teacher of the Year for CA, and went on to become one of the finalists for National Teacher of the Year. He is awesome! :)

Can see some of his videos on YouTube, also.

I use Rockin' the Standards, School House Rocks, Singin' the Standards (Tim Bedley), and random songs to introduce reading/writing strategies and literary elements.

At the end of the year, I have the students write their own songs (using a popular tune) about what they've learned in 6th grade. They go and sing their songs to the 5th graders. They really enjoy this activity!
