I do a unit on prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping. As a warm up the children are asked to complete the following sentence All Children are ____________.Of course we come to realize that the best answer is different. I think we need to judge teachers by their results, not their age.The ideal situation would be if teachers would get together and share their ideas and try something which has proved to be successful in other classroom even it is something slightly different than they usually do.I know some young teachers who are dull and some veteran teachers who are very creative.

I've worked with veteran teachers that have had the same attitude as well as others who were just as creatie if not more than the beginning teacher who had nothing in their repertoire. It sounds like you are an incredible teacher and you need to maintain your confidence in your teaching ability and not be discouraged by someone else who has lost their love for the art of teaching. I have taught for 10 year now and so far I've learned that I NEVER do the same exact thing. Every class deserves the best and if I get lay and fall back into a routine they are not getting my best for them. I may do things that I have learned have good results but even then I've had to remain reflective and acknowledge that even though it worked for the last 3 years it may not be working this year. That is why I refer to it as the art of teaching it's a living breathing profession, not a JOB.

Research has become a buzz word instead of an answer.
At times it looks like any research will do.
Just because you have research does not mean it is reliable.
I have found most research (what my district used) only expounded
    ONE SIZE FITS ALL

This limits a teacher to use only new modalities (since the "old" methods are put down)
A marriage of Old and new would be perfect.

    Irish Dave--
    I agree with you!

Exactly, it should be about sharing not pointing and staring.:soapbox:
