I just found out today that I'm going to be teaching second grade next year (taught K this year) due to school consolidation and there not being any K positions available....glad I've found out early, so I have the summer to plan...

Sounds like it will be a big jump, but second graders are amazing! You'll love them!

Second graders are amazing but still love songs, art, and being silly like kinders!

    is a great resource

The discussions aren't as great as on here (of course!), but you can share files, and I have found some fantastic things on there!

Yay! You will love it. I always thought that K or 1 was for me, but after three years in 2nd, I absolutely love it :)

2nd grade is the best! I absolutely love it! They're at an age when they still love their teacher and they'll do anything to please you. They're more independent than Kinder and 1st graders, too!

Best wishes and let us know if you need anything.

Thanks for sharing this Ning! (I'm working on a masters in ed. tech. and we've been talking about nings all semester and I haven't stumbled across this one yet!)

Teacherhoosier, welcome to second grade! They really are fun and it's exciting to watch them become more independent and not need your attention every minute.
