Looking for thoughts, aha moments, tricks..etc. to teaching students how to gather information for nonfiction writing topic.

How do you teach students to read a variety of sources on a topic and pull out different information from each source?

If you have access to a school librarian, he or she could give you tons of specific, practical strategies when it comes to helping students develop research skills.

For kids who don't have a lot of previous experience with research, the right graphic organizer can do wonders.

Do you have some examples other than a tree map?

For younger students who are just beginning, I would link 3 sites through Google Classroom, or email, and have the students look for answers to specific questions. I would require them to write the website they found the answer to each question.
