Does anyone teach fluency explicitly or have an idea how to do it? I have plenty of reading programs for learning the sounds for reading and for learning comprehension but NOT fluency. I am considering doing fluency only for my elementary students who read poorly out loud but comprehend what they read.

Florida Center for Reading Research has some free centers to teach this. Their website is www.fcrr.org

Fluency kills me. I have some kids (maybe a few a year) that I can improve their fluency by repeated practice. I don't get far, but I'm working toward it, Then I have the rest of my kids that are honestly not going to get there. So, do I keep up with this, charting the same data day to day? I think it's going to depend on the students age, ability level, and level of commitment . Where can we realistically see the end of the all this?
