I am teaching 2nd grade. My students are struggling with number patterns. They can identify a growing pattern vs repeating. They are struggling with the concept of figuring out how to finish a number pattern. How do some of you teach this concept. I have used manipulatives, a 100's chart, and I was showing them 2,4,6,8....and trying to coax them into figuring out that the pattern is growing by +2's. If they draw a dot in between for the missing number, then it just looks like they are adding 1. Any ideas?
