As some of you know, I will be teaching a College class this coming Fall. Since I never taught in English, I have some doubts concerning teaching/Math terminology.

In Portugal, I used to write the summary of the lesson - main topics covered- on the board, in the beginning of each class.

    For instance,

    Sumário:
Resolução de equações do 1º grau.

Would the equivalent to "sumário" be "Topic(s)"?

If a lesson was spent solving exercises I would write "Resolução de exercícios" (Exercise-solving) for my Topic. But I don't think the expression "Exercise-solving" is used over here...What expression would you use then?

    Thank you!:)

"Topic" would do fine as an title.

And I think the other phrase you're looking for is "problem solving exercises" or "Examples"

Perhaps, 'Solving equations with one variable' ?

Carmen, between me and Alice, I think we could help you out with much of your translating needs. Don't hesitate to ask.

Yes, I know that I will be asking for more help as the school year progresses, and I will be thankful for your expertise.
