I am starting to get worried because I have applied with 6 districts and have not had one interview:confused: . I went to a job fair this week and one of the districts said that all teachers have until June 26th to tell the school if they are retiring or transferring. Is this true? Do you think this will open up a lot of positions? I just feel like I am never going to get hired for the August school year.

Yes, I do think that you will get calls when you find out if teachers are moving or leaving.

    Tell me how everything goes.

Those districts are sure to have some openings. Teachers have 45 days before the start of school to break their contracts without penalty, and almost all teachers like to have another job before relinquishing the old position.

    Afranks,
What is the name of your school? That sounds amazing! I live in Humble not to far from the beltway, I would love to go in for an interview ;-). What grade?

    Hanvan,
I saw them at the Gulf Coast Job Fair. I am actually in the process of completing an application, it is just such a far drive from where I live.

I'm sure it is :) I used to drive about an hour each way for my job but then I moved closer to where I live.

    Hi Sadie,

Maybe it's just a question of geography, but why only 6 districts? (Around here that would be about a 3 mile radius.) Could you think about broadening your search? Also include non-public schools.

Here 6 districts is more than a 3 mile radius!

I kind of figured as much, but thought I would toss out the idea, just in case!

Actually, it depends on the area.

I applied in N. Dallas and I had 25 school districts within a 15 mile radius.

Then when you get to S. Texas you may have 1 every 30 miles.
