I just found out I'll be moving to 3rd. Our state standards incorporate cursive, and IDK where to even start. We don't have a cursive curriculum. I talked to a 2nd grade teacher, and she introduced it at the end of last year.

I'm thinking about taking the first two weeks and reviewing manuscript so they can get back into the groove? Maybe revisit correct positions during this time?

I'll check it out! I was trying to avoid spending anymore $ out of my pocket this year. I'm getting extremely sick of it. Side rant, sorry. I guess if $20 (just guessing, I haven't looked yet) makes things easier...

I recall having an entire course on this in college! There are a few great resources... I'll just go ahead and add my vote to the above.

If you don't want to buy a book, you can teach it the "old fashion way" using handwriting paper and the chalk or white board. That's how I teach it. I'd be glad to send you the order of introduction, if you pm me with your email address.

This is how my CT and I did handwriting (though we just did printed letters for 2nd, not cursive). I'd write it on the smartboard and the kids would copy and practice on handwriting paper. We just went through the alphabet in order, but cursive probably has a better order to use. In any case, it doesn't have to cost much, if anything.

If you search online for free cursive handwriting worksheets, you'll find a ton of resources.
