I would like to change NJ school districts. I am a tenured teacher in my current school district. Our contract expired in June. Our Union Is in negotiating discussions for a new contract. We are currently teaching without a contract. If I should be lucky enough to obtain a position in another school district before the new contract is settled, can I leave my current district without giving 60 days notice?

This sounds like a question for your union rep - a great deal may depend on factors that we haven't thought of or considered in this forum. It would be foolhardy to put deep consideration into opinions which may or may not be accurate and pertinent to your specific situation. Your answer needs to be accurate, to protect you, protect your job, protect your teaching certificate(s),and protect your salary. I am in NJ - have lived in NJ for more than 40 years, but I believe there are some questions that should only be answered by a true authority, and this is one of those questions. Let me wish the best of luck going forward.
