I was wondering if you have a masters, do you need a teachers certificate. Also how long does it take to get a teaching certificate.

I assume you mean a teaching license? It varies by state. In some states, you can get a "temporary" one by simply passing a content test. Then, to get a permanent one, you have to complete Education coursework, which usually takes a few years (in Massachusetts, at least).

What grade do you want to teach? A certificate is completely different from a degree. In public schools, usually a certificate is more important.

In CA you have to have a credential, which takes 1-2 years to get. A master's is not a requirement.

Depends on what you want to do. Depends on the state you're in. Depends on your course of study. There are lots of variables here.

A masters degree is not the same as a teaching certificate (license)... You'll probably need to do student teaching and will have to pass your state's required tests (Praxis?) or check out alternate route instead of student teaching in some instances.
