    Hello,

My kiddos are having a hard time recognizing the difference between b and d. I have seen an activity somewhere where the students cut out a bed and write b for the foot of the bed and d for the head of the bed.

Does anyone have a blackline or other resource that would be useful?

    Thanks,

    Mandy

I'm sure that you could find a picture of a bed in clip art somewhere.

We just have them use their hands.

Another tip: b use baseball-the ball comes towards the bat. (Have them draw the bat first, then ball)
d: drum- the drum comes before the drumstick. (Have them draw the drum first, then the drumstick).

With their hands they make a fist and then put their thumb up. The left hand makes b and the right hand makes d.

When teaching my students left and right, we painted their left hand yeLlow and their right hand Red. Perhaps when you could write b on their left hand and d on their right so they remember which hand makes which letter.

    Hope this helps.

I have had better results teaching b is a bat and ball and d is dish with fork - that the bed idea.

My son was a struggling learner and could not remember the bed, but DOES get the bat and ball.

I know the Really Good Stuff site has a poster for that, but their S & H charges are usually pretty high.

I've heard of this before, but it was in reference of which side the drink and bread goes on the dinner table. HAha....

Oh, and I found this online just now. Would this work??

ETA: source- it came from this website
