Do you know of any teachers at your school who don't have the content knowledge to be teaching the subject that they are teaching? I'm just wondering if this is prevalent in a lot of schools. The only requirement to teach is to pass the Praxis or whatever test and there doesn't seem to be a limit as to how many times you can take it. Not a very high standard if you ask me. I saw this at my last school where one of the teachers didn't know statistics but that was only a portion of the course that he was teaching. This year, I found out that there are teachers in my district who were assigned subjects that they had absolutely no knowledge in. I couldn't imagine say, teaching algebra, and not knowing how to do it. Just blows my mind. And yes, they are math teachers so it's not like they were assigned classes outside of their certification area.
