And plasticware, because something always hits the floor.

Also, teachers are the only people who talk to their pets in a singsong voice and pause for an answer out of habit.

I nearly died when I read this!! Isn't it the truth?!?! I find myself saying it to my dog, cats and boyfriend. Oh well. :D :D :D

Who put their finger to their lips and say "Shhhhhhhh" when it's getting too loud (and you aren't in the classroom or even at school).

My big one is "no spin," because I work with children who have autism. If I catch somebody absently spinning a pencil or pen at a conference, I automatically stop the offending writing tool with a finger while admonishing, "No spin!" It earns me some pretty strange looks.

Are the only ones in a group of non teachers to head up the group and get it organized or volunteer for a job no one wants.

will turn to their friends, who are all speaking at once, and say, " I can't hear when everyone is speaking at once, please let's talk one at a time"

Sometimes, the noise level in a room really gets to me, and I just need it quiet.:sorry:

Have to watch themselves in public because one of those children may be in their class next year or one of those parents may have a child in your class next year. No more giving the one finger salute when driving for me. ;)

My exboyfriends dog used to jump on me all the time and no one could figure out why he didnt stop...well i finally realized that while everyone else said "No" I said (in a sweet as pie voice) "Feet on the ground" Ahhhh yes...

Tee hee. We went bowling last night, and I know I shouldn't have, and I tried to resist it, but I spent the whole evening moving cups from the edges of the table because they were annoying me :p I always tell my kids not to put their cups at the edge of the table or their drink would spill. When a friend of ours asked why I kept moving the cups, I replied that he shouldn't put them at the edge of else it could get knocked over and create a spill. :p

Don't forget the stash of gloves, hats, and all the extra clothing that somehow mysteriously gets left in your room that no one claims but everyone needs

...who understand the true importance of the "just right" lunch box, coat, or sweatshirt

Soooooooooo true. Everytime DH would offer a name option I'd shoot it down with a story about a kid I'd previously had in class with that name. We ended up blending two names....lol!

I'm a first year, and I find that, because I'm awake at 7am on Saturdays anyway, that's when I do my grocery/Wal-mart shopping. I can say I've never run into a student to date. By 11am, however, I've done everything I need to for the day, then I'm bored, so I correct papers. What a life!

...are pretty used to having runny noses wiped on their shirts...they are still grossed out by it, but not so surprised.

...find paint or clay or stickers on the soles of their shoes

...always seem to have glitter in their hair

...introduce themselves by name and grade (jessica, first grade)

...have many "kids" only a few of which may be blood related

...can tell the sound of one of their students screaming or crying or laughing from the other side of school, after day 2!
