If you could get ONE thing for your classroom, regardless of the price, what would it be? It can only be a single item. (So, not a class set of anything.)

I would get the boardmaker software.

I would get a document camera. I used one while Student Teaching and didn't realize what a wonderful tool it could be until now.

A single item would mean I would probably have to get either a piece of furniture or technology. I really don't want either, but if I could find an electric pencil sharpener that would never break, I guess I would ask for that. Even the $50 ones at Staples seem to only last a few months for me.

Personally, I would prefer a year's supply of either copy paper or mechanical pencils.

A gift card that would be enough to get a class set of iPads :p

    An interactive whiteboard.

Funnily enough, my school has a plethora of document cameras... I get asked every year if I want one, but I can never figure out what I'd use it for.

But I'd step on a Lego for a smartboard. :p

^^^ My school also has lots of document cameras, LCD projectors and SMARTboards (from grant money), but only two working computers in the Teacher Resource room (for a 6-12 school with 40+ teachers/staff members). Teachers only get one computer in their room for their desk and some of these computers still have the big "square" monitors from the 1990s that will crush your toes if it falls on them.

I would prefer more computers for teacher/student use and less document cameras (which I also have no use for) and stuff.

    1. What is a kidney table?
    2. Wouldn't you still have to supply your own copy paper, or is that not an issue for you?

I would get a personal assistant- not a para, but someone to make all my copies, organize things, grade papers, fill out any menial paperwork, etc.

I already have all the technology I could ever want- a smart board, a macbook pro, and the newest version of ipad for myself plus every kid is given their own ipad. I can't think of any other "big" things I would use, so I'll take my own assistant:).

I'm lucky enough to have technology in my room, so...

A thermostat that I can control. (Ours are programmed with a code so we can't change them.)

Can this personal assistant also provide a healthy lunch, go to meetings for me, do my grocery shopping, make dinner, do my laundry and clean my house? I have said for years that every busy woman needs a wife. :thumb:

If I can't have a personal assistant, then I want a color laser printer with unlimited toner and paper!
