i was wondering. here in miami we have like 8 different teacher stores. its like a walgreens with only teacher stuff. do they have these where you live. im just curious
In my area we have F & S Teacher Supply (not sure if it is a chain or not), and United Art and Education.
Lakeshore is the best known, but we have many independent teacher stores of various sizes and price points. Dollar Tree has a great teacher section too and I check it often!
In Delaware there is a store called The Learning Station and Maryland a store called Learning How. Both of these stores are teacher supply stores. I don't know if they are in other states or not.
We had one within the county, but now that is supposedly closing. I have to travel at least 30 miles to get to the others. There is a Lakeshore and a Learning Tree.
We have one in town that is awful (and expensive). An hour away there are a few, some in the same chain.
We have The Supply Closet in the suburban Kansas City area. I'm always at The Dollar Tree for stuff, too. That's pretty much it.
There is a GA school supply about an hour south of me. There is also a School Box. I did run in Target today and they had thier dollar scetion full of teacher stuff.
We do have a few here in Vegas, but they're very expensive. We also have a Teacher Exchange where you can swap your stuff for different stuff. I think there's also a teacher supply store run through the union where you get a certain allotment of points per quarter to "spend" at the store. I haven't been to either yet, but I'm hoping to do so before the end of the summer.
We have a School Aids which is not too bad and they have a great rewards program. We also have Dollar Tree and Target (which still does not have school stuff in its dollar section!)
BASAM and I must live in the same area because those are the same stores I would have listed. I actually live north of the metropolitan area so I only have two stores I drive to when I need specialty items. Otherwise I have a Walmart, Target and Dollar Tree in my city.
School Box, Target Dollar Section (just loaded up on their school goodies ), Dollar Tree in the next town over (7 miles) has a really good teacher section, there's a local school supply store called the Teacher's Tool Box, and we also have a Scholastic Warehouse here in town (gotta love those sales @ christmas and end of the year). Other than that it's Wal-mart or order online.
Besides the usual Walmarts, Targets, and Dollar Trees, we have Lakeshore and Becker's Parent/Teacher store. There is also a Scholastic Warehouse about an hour or so away from me.
Does anyone have a Mardel's around them? It is a chain store that is owned by the same person as Hobby Lobby craft store. Mardel's is half Christian book store and half teacher supplies. The one here isn't too close, but I go there occasionally and they have a large selection. I think they are trying to keep them near the Hobby Lobby stores, but not all Hobbt Lobby stores have one next to them yet.
No "Teacher Stores" close enough me... :-( Lakeshore and Scholastic are about an hour away. Target, Walmart, and The Dollar Tree are about 15 min. away...those are my usual teacher supply headquarters! Oh, and, of course, VistaPrint is close to everybody!
We have a TAPS (Teacher and Parents Store). There are 7 of them in the area. They are a bit more than catelog shopping, but then again, you can get it NOW and you don't have to pay shipping. Overall, it is very nice.
In Maryland we have a Lakeshore (actually it's in Virginia, but it's only about 30 minutes from me) Educational Etc and Learning How.
We have a "Learning Oasis", it is new & I haven't been yet. We had "Education Station" but it was very small & recently shut down. I love Mardel! We don't have one here, although we do have 3 Hobby Lobby's near my house. I have to go to Mardel when I visit family in Oklahoma. I visit Dollar Tree often & now I am wanting to get to Target ASAP to check out the dollar section!
well i have, get smart, wich has 4 locations learning city smart zonne real way iq zone and thats it, plus dollar tree and target and walmart, there all within 2-15 minutes away. i spend hours in those stores
When I go to visit my parents, out of state, I always stop by this mom-and-pop teacher's store. They always have so many things that our local stores doesn't have. It is like being in a toy store, right before Christmas!
We have a teacher store here called Learning is Fun. I think they are in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico too. They have a lot and are always having sales. I get a lot from Dollar Tree too.
Csw3rd, Since I am in your neck of the woods, have you been to the Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials? Any teacher is entitled to go once every 6 months for free materials that companies donate. You receive 100 points to spend. I usually find paper, envelopes, pens, pencils, crayons, binders, furniture (used but with a little TLC they are awesome), small trinkets, etc. It's not a teacher store but I can always go for free stuff. Sorry, if I took over the thread.
We have a Scholar's Choice an hour and a half away... I was just there yesterday for a one-day vacation... first time there... I spent waaaaay too much
I know it's been mentioned, but Target just got a whole bunch of stuff in their dollar section for teachers: small pocket charts (that are 16.00 on carsondellosa.com), notepads, hall passes, book marks, signs, etc. I stocked up and I dont even have a job yet. With the other stores, I think its the new teacher in me that wants to spend all my money there! We have Becker's and Lakeshore, and a buy a little here and there- stuff I could use for any grade! I hope it pays off with a teaching job, otherwise half of my bedroom is being wasted!
We have two privately owned businesses near me. Otherwise I have to order from the companies directly.
ive never heard of that in my life. i will have to check it out. thanks, i spend so much, it would be nice to get some free stuff
I have several teacher stores in my area. My parents live in the San Francisco Bay Area and there is a Lakeshore OUTLET near them. It is a regular store, but in the back is a whole other area with clearanced merchandise. It is huge! I make them take me everytime I visit. I get the best deals there. I especially love when something is 40 percent off because the box is broken or it is an old version. Almost all of my Lakeshore stuff is from the outlet, even though there is a Lakeshore store where I live.
The three most popular in my area are: The Learning Depot (5 minutes from my house), The Learning Station (30 minutes south), and Lakeshore (in Tampa, which is probably about the size of a Walgreens in itself!!). :woot:
Lakeshore (about 30 minutes away), Mardel's (two within 20 minute drive in each directions), Copelin's (Oklahoma teacher store and mail order), Scholastic Warehouse (30 minutes away), and of course, Target, Dollar Tree, and Walmart.
