    Hi everyone!
I am a non education major and recently became certified in K-6. I want to put together a portfolio and while I've found online resources, they all cater toward education majors who have done observation hours, classroom assignments, etc.
I'm not sure what to include in a portfolio when I don't have student work.
    Any ideas?

So far this is what I have:
    1) Brief bio
    2) Description of the kind of class atmosphere I would like to create
    3) Copy of FTCE score, certification
    4) Teaching philosophy
    5) References

...and that's where it ends. I could come up with a few lesson plans (never implemented, obviously).

    Any guidance would be appreciated!
    Thank you!

    Congrats on your recent certification!

What are you passionate about? I'd pick a unit and walk through that unit from intro to end. Anyone reading your portfolio would then have a good understanding of your creativity and interests, the depth with which you would approach a topic, and how you would assess the kids.

Describe a lesson plan for starting a topic, and what you would do to capture the kids' attentions and build interest and excitement.

Make up a model worksheet or notes that tell important vocabulary words or concepts relating to the topic.

Put together some readings that go with your topic, and some activities.

Then make a test and put that in your portfolio.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for your reply wrice.
I am passionate about fostering creativity in children, classroom management/organization. Just trying to think of how to write the philsophy and include what I need so that it all flows.
