How important do you think it is to have assistants in the 6-9 and 9-12 classroom. In my training it was the norm. I believe Maria Montessori felt it was needed even in upper elementary. Is that true? How do you show others the importance of it?

    I'm referring to 6-9 & 9-12 ages

Are you talking about those ages or grades. If it is grades, I'm afraid that you will find that assistants are few and far between outside of the special ed setting.

S/He's talking about ages. In Montessori, children are grouped by 6-9 yr olds and 9-12 yr olds.

As far as the question goes, I believe it's very important. If you are in a lesson with a group of second level children, someone should be available to handle the questions, etc. from the other children. In the 9-12 I believe it's as important as well.
