Have one? Several? Love it? Regret it?

I don't, and likely never will, but I do like them for the most part, if they are original and "artsy." I've been having a reoccurring nightmare that I've gotten a very visible tattoo without thinking it through first and regretting it terribly right away. Wonder what it means?

I've had more than enough biopsies.

I don't want or need any other needles.

I forget where I heard or read this, but I remember this quote about tattoos that compares them to wearing your absolute favorite outfit...everyday...for the rest of your life. No matter how much you LOVE it, our tastes are forever changing.

Prime example: As a teenager I LOOOOOOOVED the Spice Girls and would've gotten "SPICE UP YOUR LIFE" tattooed on my arm if I wasn't underaged. Now, at 26, I barely even think about the SG's and am thankful to God I don't have to see it on my body.

    Aw, Alice!

There's some pretty awful tats on teachers at my school. Faded tacky roses, etc. I always wonder if they regret them...

    That would be horrendous! LOL

I'm a pisces (duh) and considered getting the symbol (fish swimming in a circle) on my back tramp-stamp style...thank God I didn't! :p

Love them on other people. My low pain tolerance and downright fickle nature (I'm still amazed I'm married) stop me from getting any of my own. My best guy friend has his favorite Split Enz album cover on his calf and it's gorgeous. His wife has three infinity symbols (they were married 8/8/08 - infinities on their sides) on the back of her neck. I admire them both from a distance.

ugh, tell me about it. one of my girlfriends has a drawing her 2 year old son did tattooed to her back. my fear is that i'd get a tattoo and either gain or lose a ton of weight or just my skin gets looser when i get older and the tattoo looks disgusting.

HOWEVER, the two extreme looks I've always loved are -
    1) WILD colored hair (ie: blue, FIRE engine red, pink)
    20 Eyebrow rings

I'd love a nose ring (teeny-tiny stud) but It'd never fly in my small town.

I love mine. I have this tribal Samoan body suit that covers almost my entire body.....

Nah...., I can not tell a lie. I have one. It's big enough to cover half my back and I do not regret it because I remember well my reason for getting it as and when I did. A friend of mine was recently put out of work and had mouths to feed. I had some small amount of money set aside for living off while going to school. I couldn't live with knowing a baby was going hungry and he wouldn't take the cash without there being something in trade. He was just learning to do tats before he was laid off and had gotten fairly skilled. So, we had a trade.

I have 2. They have never been revealed at school. Both are original art. I've had them about 10 years. The artwork is all black, so I don't have to worry about fading.

    I love them.

I got my first after weeks of planning. Got my 2nd on a whim while I waited for a friend to get hers ... by the time she was finished, I had designed my 2nd one and was in the chair.

Pain? Not bad at all. Press your fingernail into your skin and drag it. Where skin is thin with bone underneath causes a lot of vibration, a good artist will go in short bursts in those areas.

I have one. I don't regret it-I like it and always will. It's small, on my leg, and I guess it reminds me of a time that I really enjoyed in my life. I was 18, going to college, free and having fun. It keeps me young! I'm only 31, but sometimes I feel old!

I would like to get another one too. I would like something to represent my children-birth month flowers or something of the like. A violet (Feb), a lily of the valley (May), and a gladiola (August), kind of intertwined. I might throw in another violet and a rose (June) for me and hubby, and have myself a bouquet! I'm not sure where yet-maybe on my shoulder/back. I like places that stay covered should I choose to cover them!

I do not have one. But there is a tiny part of me that wants to.

I do lots of tatooable original designs, so that would be neat, but I have always said if I "had" to get one it would be a short song lyric or title from my favorite band. Now, though, I would be torn between that and the name of my dogchild. Either way, it would be in beautiful font and it would be incredibly small.

But I shouldn't pour too much thought into it...I'd never actually get on. :)

I'll do that. They're just doodles, but a couple people who have seen me doodling during meetings and such have said they looked like tatoo designs. I'll have to round a few up. I don't have them in a sketchpad or anything...just my "very important" faculty meeting agendas.

Here's the doodle I just painted...not so much tatooable! There's no rhyme or reason to it...just a doodle. :)

JustMe that is great! I wish my doodles looked like that.

I don't have one but also have had a tiny inkling to get one. I won't because knowing my luck it would get infected or something like that.

I have five, three that are visible but can be covered and two hidden. I love my tattoo's, and I plan on getting another one when my son is born. I may do a large script font down my ribs for him.

I have a friend that celebrates the major events in her life with tatoos. They don't always directly relate, but the mortar board for her college graduation is obvious. There are others celebrating her anniverseries of being clean and sober, getting her GED and getting her first "real" job, among other things. She also has tats that she got for no reason at all. Of course, in a professional setting, you'd never know they were there. They're all in places that can be covered up. Even in her druggie days, she had enough forsight to do that. I love most of them (some, well, we just have different tastes).

I have another friend that's a super nerd/scientist by day and tatooed biker guy by night. I think its hysterical that when the tie comes off and the sleves get rolled up, you realize he's tatooed from neck to waist and wrist.

As for myself, I've thought about it, but they're just not my cup of tea. I'm content admiring them on other people.

I don't have any....boyfriend is a pretty good artist and gives me Sharpie tattoos lol. I like how they look but I think I am way too indecisive to decide on something that I will love for the rest of my life. The only thing I would consider possibly getting is the date my dad passed away and my sister already has that tattoo (that she got illegally...when she was 16...whole other story!) I like how foot tattoos look, but I don't think I could get one since they are not easily covered up when wearing anything but closed toed shoes.
My BF has one tattoo that is fairly large on his ribs. I like it, and think it looks good on him. He wants more so we'll see.

I have a spider web tattoo on my ankle. The funny thing about it- I don't even like spiders. I got it because I wanted to remind me to always face my fears. It didn't hurt too bad until the tattoo artist redrew the lines on an already sore patch of skin (that was the unbearable part).

Love  the temporary tattoos. I have a keloid scar on a very visible part of my chest. The scar is ugly so I have been using temporary tattoos to cover it. I actually ordered some from Amazon. Right now I have a henna butterfly. I like that I can change the design.

I've always wanted a pirate flag on my ankle. But I want it to be from a female's ship. When I went to research, I couldn't find any females that flew under their own flag! BUMMER.

Maybe I'll design my own flag someday.

I have a tat on my ankle. It's of a sun and I got it when I was 18. I do show it at school and its not a big deal. I'd like to get another small one on my shoulder of a pink breast cancer ribbon to remember my mom who passed from cancer, and I would also like to do something for my daughter who died in childbirth.

I have often said that I wouldn't wear the same shirt everyday so why would I want something tattooed on my forever?

But in the summer I almost always have a different Henna tattoo on me. I go very bohemian in the summer. lol.

No tatoos. Why mess with what's good (OK, **** near perfect) ? As for the rest of my life, I change the paint color on my walls every few years, the pillows on my sofa often, the colors of towels in my bathroom seasonally...I'm not one to stay with one idea for too long...I can always accessorize myself with great shoes and classic jewelry...no need to permanently tatoo some whim that I will have to live with forever. EEK. I laugh when I think about the 20-somethings with tramp stamps on their behinds someday in a nursing home where some candy striper has to help them to the bathroom...quite a visual on a saggy 90 year old butt...

I've always wanted to get one-a Celtic symbol or something.

When you talk about regrets-I remember a boy in high school who got a big tasmanian devil on his calf. He tried to hide it from his mom, but obviously she wondered why he started pulling his socks all the way up when he wore shorts . I can't imagine as a thirty-something professional he doesn't regret that choice.

My mom got a butterfly high up on the back of her thigh when she turned 40-you can only see it when she wears a swimsuit.

I don't have one and probably will never get one. I did visit a tattoo parlor one time just for fun. A friend and I wandered in after a day of sightseeing and we were curious to see what it was like but weren't serious about getting one (the tattoo guy was trying to talk us into it though LOL).

I have two and so far, I don't regret them. The one is a butterfly that I got the day my divorce was final. it represents my "freedom." Funny that I saw this thread about tattoos because my husband just got our son's name put on his arm last night. (He has like 10 tattoos but they are all covered by a shirt.)
