I don't think anyone should be forced to take the vaccine either. Did I get it myself? You bet. Both doses as soon as it was possible.

If you are not going to get the vaccine, then tell them you are willing to wear a mask for every minute of the day because you care about the safety of all students. It is only the vaccine you have a problem with. If you are not willing to wear a mask or get the vaccine, people won't see you are willing to help keep children safe, and it will be tough for you.

There's the Delta Airlines model. We won't force you to get the vaccine. But since there is a monetary cost to that decision, increased medical insurance, you will pay that cost. I think it's $200/month.

Frankly, I would think the costs in terms of tracking continuous testing, possible legal liability for infecting customers and so on, they would charge more than that.

I know people who got covid a second time. It's the Delta variant. Just because you already had it, doesn't mean you are immune to catching it again.

I know 2 people who caught Covid twice too. 1 of them caught it almost a year after the 1st time. The other 1 did not have that much lapse time.

The vaccine will only reduce your chances of getting it. And if you do get it after vaccination, it is supposed to lessen the severity of the disease. Actually, I think that goes for most vaccines.

For those that know people that got covid twice, was the second time less severe, just the same, or worse?

The first person I ever met who got Covid was a teacher I work with. She was vaccinated and still caught the original recipe 'Vid. She was p*ssed! Same story I have heard several times now: bad cold, slept all day, loss taste and smell.

My Covid experience was before vax. A terrible sinus infection and loss of taste and smell. Similar to other vaxxed teachers. Seriously, I can name at least 5 other illnesses I would never want again. Covid is not even in my top 10. I have had worse hangovers! I even thought about getting off my butt and going fishing, but I was too lazy. All I wanted to do was sleep and wait to take my next dose of Mucinex. It wasted my time more than anything else.

Now my son-in-law has it. Another teacher who is vaxxed too.

I'm waiting for Delta and all her sisters. I do not see vaccines ending this.

You would think both would have built up antibodies to have made it less severe having had it the 1st time.
My neighbor told me both times were pretty miserable, but about the same. She tends to downplay things even. She has a super immune system though, I'd guess. She has been into herbal remedies/ vitamins since childhood. I do not think she has ever even taken antibiotics. She is so extreme that she is into giving birth at home. She is a midwife and had her kids that way.
I am not sure if the other one had less symptoms or not. The way he explained it to me, I wondered if he had ever really gotten over it the 1st time. He got it and was very sick. Then 3-4 months later got it again. I had heard of people who thought they had gotten better then boom! It came back. I always wondered if that was not what happened to him.

I like hearing these kind of reports. I am glad you did not have bad symptoms. The 1st person I knew who got it, had it bad and it lasted long term. Her experience left a big impression on me b/c she was in her late 30's ( max 40) and fairly healthy. She got it early when drs did not want sick people to come in, so she had to suffer through it pretty much on her own.

If you haven't seen the studies done in Israel, they are interesting. To be considered fully vaxxed there, you have to have had the booster. I am sadly worried that
Guitart is right about we are not close to being out of the woods yet.

Yeah. Seems like we have another endemic with variants all the time, like the flu.
