Hey there Is anyone out there thinking of switching careers away from teaching/education? I have been searching for a "real" teaching job for 3 years now, and cannot get anything. It makes no sense for me to get cert. in anything else because I'd have to go back to school and pay graduate tuition for about 4-5 classes, (I already have my BA and MS), plus take all the state tests. My cert. is up for renewal in June, and I have never taught under it! Not to mention, it seems to me that my job prospects are slim to none because I am over 35. :| I'm just wondering if anyone else has looked into other careers/training? I hear health care job are in demand...
flute~I was thinking of switching careers earlier before getting my job. I was actually thinking of becoming a nurse or a paralegal.
I've thought about it and have applied for a couple of jobs in other fields, but as Blue said, it's hard in every profession right now. I'm really trying to not go back to school, because I'm worried about having another degree that I won't end up using.
I think everybody is having trouble finding a job in any profession and in any state. My mom is an RN and over 40 and can't find a job. Everyone is feeling the crunch of this economy.
Lowes, It is difficult for RNs to find jobs in Mississippi? I thought nursing was the most secure profession right now.
They've got a similar thing going on right now - a lot of hype about a shortage, but a lack of employers hiring. The RN hiring shortage seems to have more to do with hiring freezes and hospitals hiring nurses with experience over new grads.
stuck. too old and too educated to start in another field. at least married well haha! you really have to have coursework to be certified in further subjects? in tx you just have to pass the test.
