Well, it's almost that time again. Back to preparing lunch for the next day, back to getting clothes ready for the week, back to early morning duty, back to people saying "I see you're really busy, but.......", back to waiting on Friday, back to waiting on the next holiday. *sigh*
We've got a couple of weeks left and I'm slowly slipping back into routine. I'm going in today to get everything set up.
This is my week to get back to it, too. I don't officially report back until middle of the week next week, but I'll be going in today and throughout the week to work on getting the classroom setup and preparing for the first few days. I started setting the alarm clock early again this morning. The kids return two weeks from tomorrow.
I have two weeks left of summer school, and it's been stressful enough that I barely slept last night, so yeah, I'm feeling it. Glad to have a week off before the fall semester starts on the 20th.
It wasn’t so bad. We had open house. My classes are the smallest I’ve ever had with between 15 and 20 kids a class. I’m usually between 25 with up to 35.
I don't go back until September but I've been thinking a lot about balance. I really want to do a better job. I literally let my job take over my life. I love my job but it shouldn't be the only thing I do for 10 months of the year. I really am going to try to get up at 6 and protect that 1/2 hour and make myself get out of the house and do something a few nights a week and get back to cooking dinner and enjoying it. We shall see.
Balance is so important. I usually do yoga, meditation, and I workout. To me that's my unwind. I love going to the gym and having a great workout and just pushing myself. But that's how I deal with the stress. You have to find something to balance everything out.
I go, put my headphones in, just do my thing. I try to do a lot of leg exercises, it helps with my stump. Mostly to try and prevent some of the muscle loss in my thigh. Then I do some core and arms. Try to get some cardio in once or twice a week.
All the kids in the 6 districts in my immediate area go back to school one day the week of 8/5. I personally don't have to worry about Sunday night preparedness anymore.
