Anyone have plans to spend some time away from home this summer?

I hate long car rides and we can't take our son on a plane, so I made reservations to spend a few nights at Disney World. We live only a few minutes from the park, so it's a short, easy ride!

Plus, it gets my son out of the house and to a place he really enjoys.

We will be moving so I'm not sure if we'll be able to fit in a trip but we'll be exploring our new area so maybe that will count as a vacation. :):):)

I'm moving to southeast Asia this summer! I know it's work, but it'll probably feel like a vacation (of sorts) for a few months.

We're just going to Alabama for a week to visit my family. Not the most exciting place in the world but I don't see them enough so it'll be fun. I'm hoping to go to the ISTE Conference in Denver - still working out the details with my district to see if they'll cover it - and while that would be mostly work, I'd definitely squeeze in a little bit of fun stuff and sight-seeing. Usually make at least a couple of trips to Pittsburgh to visit my aunt and see some Pirates games. This will be the first summer in a long, long time that I haven't worked so I'm really planning on just relaxing at home with the husband and dog. We moved in a bit of a whirlwind right as the school year was starting so we'll probably do some exploring around here too. We're not too far from the Finger Lakes so I think we want to try to get up into that area some.

My cousin is getting married in August - so we'll go up the day of the wedding, leave the next day. Managed to get a house on AirBnB

Just a couple of short trips--a few days each to visit my Mom in Ottawa, my son in Halifax and my daughter in Ohio.

Our state is a summer vacation place. So we tend to hit touristy spots now & fall. Lol. We go to farms for blueberry picking late summer.

Leaving the first week of June to go visit my Dad is Wisconsin for 6 weeks or so. Then coming home to await the birth of my first grand child. 3 days of PD in Mid-July. Two days of training at the beginning of August. Then maybe a few days at the beach right before school starts.

We're planning to spend a week or so in San Diego. I want to go to the zoo, take a ferry around the harbor, and spend a couple of days at the beach.

I have 2 workshops this summer- one in Yale and the other at Harvard. I think DH is going to Boston with me and we will make it a mini vacation. I've never been to either place.

I have a house in Pensacola. I love being near the beach. Right now we live in Central Florida but I think we will head back to Pensacola in a few years.

Nothing big this summer. The highlights this time will probably just be a day in San Diego & maybe Knott's Berry Farm, amongst several other activities.

Not sure yet. Might help my mom paint her house, I'll have siblings in town for the first time in a while, and my wife will take two one-week blocks off at some points, and we'll likely go somewhere and do some hiking, but I'm not sure where yet. Of course, I plan on spending some of it doing prep work for next year (same classroom, same grade, and knowing many areas that were struggles this year!).

Ms I, now that you mention Knott's Berry Farm I just wanted to say that several people have told me that one of its popular restaurants, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner has been recently renovated and that the food is as great as ever!

We just recently talked about maybe going to Texas for a few days. We're only a couple days drive from Texas, and I'm sure we could find some things to do in a few cities. Might not work out this year, since we already have plans to go somewhere, but hey, it might work :)

One of my husband's cousins is visiting for a few days. She lives in the British Columbia interior and issued an open invitation for us to visit. Seeing pictures of her place, and the view she wakes up to every day, makes it very tempting. If I can find an affordable flight in July, I may just go!

We are heading to New Orleans for a long weekend. I've never been and I hear that is plenty of time to take in the city without staying too long. :)

I just gave notice at my summer camp job (after only working it a week...but I couldn't afford to burn out before the new school year), so my SO and I are definitely going to take a few long weekends to explore. We just moved to California in January and he started his job two weeks after we got here and I landed a teaching job three weeks after the move, so we have a lot of places we haven't seen yet! We may also visit his sister while she is interning in Seattle.

Thinking of taking a long weekend to visit a casino. Any longer trip will be at the end of August maybe.

Idk if you already went, but when I went last November we played a scavenger hunt game on our phone. It was fun and led us to plenty of the "must see" sights. It's called strayboots, I think. It did cost money on the app, but not much.

    TeacherNY....
I will be going to Mohegan Sun over night for my moms birthday in 2 weeks:D

I have been mostly doing day trips here and there (NYC, CT outlets, going for breakfast & lunch) which has been nice and also a lot of relaxing at home, by the pool, etc.
