I don't have a summer vacation. Do you want to go far…. or stay close to Maryland? How about NYC, FL (Disney), PA (I love the Poconos!)
We're going upstate to Lake George. But first give us some parametes: who is going? Cost-- how big? How long?
It's just me and my husband. We've done Disney, a cruise and Vegas. I'd like to stay near the east Coast.
Destin, FL is my yearly destination. We go as a family of about 60 every year. We are already counting down the days till fun in the sun.
We will go to the smoky mountains and rent a cabin as high up as we can. I love being in the hot tub watching the sunset over the mountains.
I'm planning on going to London for the Olympics as well as Paris in 2012, but if I could go someplace THIS summer, I'd do a cruise to Hawaii for about a week or a week in New York.
OK, East Coast for 2 adults. How about Maine? Between the lighthouses, the lobster (they even sell lobster rolls at McDonalds!!!) and the serenity, it's a lovely desination. If serenity isn't what you want, how about NYC?? Baltimore? DC? There's so much to see and do in each. (I'm also a big fan of Chicago if you don't mind venturing a bit west. And I had the time of my life in New Orleans--from what I remember-- one weekend years ago.) Bermuda is fabulous if you haven't been there yet. They love Americans, the language and the currency aren't an issue, and there's no visible poverty-- it really feels like a vacation! Colonial Williamsburg has all that history just waiting to be discovered. More western ideas: my sister is going to Yellowstone this year and it sounds wonderful!! And I've always wanted to see Alaska.
No big trip for us this summer. We went on a few this spring. But if I did get to go away we would go to Bermuda or do a cruise
We have rented a houseboat on Lake Shasta, CA for five days, and will be joined by 8 or 10 friends and family members. We're celebrating our 35th anniversary, so it's a special treat from us.
If you venture west & like bike riding Mackinac Island is fun!!! No cars there only biking or horse & carrige. Check out the move with Christopher Reeve & Jane Seymore "Somewhere in Time" it was filmed there!!! You can stay on the Island or in town. Besides they have the BEST fudge!!!! LOL!!! Alice... Chicago is fun... lots of different stuff to do. Of course we love the Pigeon Forge area. We rent a cabin on the Mountain.
We are driving to New Jersey to get on a cruise going north to Maine and Nova Scotia. We are probably going to take another week or two driving home by way of Finger Lakes, New Bedford, Atlantic City and down the east coast shore line. People laugh because we live in Florida and there are a thousand cruises near us, yet we are driving to NJ. It's the only way to go cruising north (other than Alaska-been twice, going next summer) but the Caribbean is just SO hot in the summer.
