I've been off since Friday, the last 2 days have been so relaxing...its been great :D

Sleeping in (until 7:30-8:30 so far)
    Making breakfast in the morning
Sitting out on my deck with a cup of tea
Went out to eat with mom yesterday---and again Tuesday!
Taking walks (high 70's, sunny, nice breeze)
Playing on my laptop (emailing, message boards)
Watching my favorite tv show marathons
    Made Italian Ice Cups

What has everyone else been up to so far?

I not there yet, but I can see the finish line. :)

My main plan is to clean my house top to bottom until it's white glove test ready. ;). Then I'm going to read non-teacher books and relax until September.

I retired from teaching on May 23. :thumb:

Since then, I have worked 3 or 4 days per week photographing guests at Disney.
My son and I are playing at the theme parks in the early mornings.
In the heat of the day I watch Netflix.
Just enjoying the company of Hubby, who has only visited intermittently for the last three years while awaiting a permanent job transfer. He has now arrived for good. :hugs:
Daughter has moved into her own apartment and seems to need mom's help more than ever.

Pretty bleh, actually. I HATE my summer job so much. Luckily, it's only 3 more weeks. August will be my fun time as I'm planning a solo road trip all over the Mideast/east. Right now I'm just hoping not to get fired from this summer gig between now and July 15th. :p

What is your summer job? :(

It's not summer for me yet. 5 more days! My summer vacation is a little less than 5 weeks.

    On the agenda:
    - Time with a couple of friends before we move
    - Time with husband's family from St Louis
    - Mini family reunion with husband's family fourth of July weekend
    - A couple of Disneyland days - making the most of our passes before we move!
    - Pack our apartment
    - Move!!!
    - Unpack the new apartment
    - Set up my new classroom
    - Plan and prepare for fifth grade next year!
    - Hopefully having my two best friends as guests at our new place - showing them around the area.
    - Walt Disney Family Museum in SF with my husband. Can't wait to go there!
    - Definitely a Tahoe trip in there somewhere. :)
    - Spending time with my mom, who I will FINALLY live near for the first time in many, many years

It's going to be packed, but I am excited for the huge life change we are making this summer!

ETA: I realize this is about summer SO FAR...but I don't have that, so I wanted to daydream about my future summer.

I haven't done much. I interviewed and found a job, but the rest of the time has been spent with my new baby. Mostly just sitting around the house with him.

I'm scoring student written responses to one of common core's lovely new exams. The grading system is so vague and subjective. I've been failing their "validity" checks because there is NO rhyme or reason to the scores they assign!

I have learned, however, that 7th graders are for the most part NOT taking this writing test very seriously. :p

I've had my nearly 4 month old niece full time M-F. I've read. Other than that, not much! I haven't even left the house in a few days.

I tend to get very bored during the summer! I've been applying for part time jobs at local CCs and other places, and while I hate to sound snotty, there are many of them that I am too "proud" to do (i.e. fast food) especially since I'm not desperate for the money...just need something to do.

I have been the same way..i won't do certain jobs..even though I could use extra $$$ in the summer. But that's why I do summer school. Its a Para position 1:1 and its only 4 weeks. I get Fridays off and 4 extra paychecks:D

I have a summer job that I do M-F. I've spent the weekends going to the movies or doing catch up on tv shows (I did an OITNB marathon too).
We spend some of the weekends on the boat (which is fun to say, as if we live a rich and famous lifestyle, but it really never leaves the marina, lol)

I've had sick kids so I've spent a ton of time at the doctor's office. I've also completed 3 days of PD for next year's contract (have 2 more to do.). I'm currently in the middle of a Disneyland trip with my oldest! She's 5, and loving the magic of Disney.

My last school day was the afternoon of March 28th. I did start a couple new grad classes this month though, so I have quite a bit of reading, quizzes, & other HW. I've been doing similarly to most others...

    - sleeping in when I can & staying up later of the time
    - normally I do a good amount of shopping right before returning to work, but I did it to kick off the summer!
    - watch TV & internet surf like always
    - shopped at a few farmer's markets
    - I'll get a free car rental for the day, so I'll probably go to San Diego for the day
    - spend the day at this other beachy city...Newport Beach
    - browse bookstores like always

It has been a good summer so far. I started grad school my first official day of summer vacation so that has been interesting. Other highlights include going to a friend's daughter's wedding and helping a friend move into a new house. I am going up to Ohio to visit friends and family up there this week so I am excited about that!

I've been off since June 6th.

I've flipped my schedule around completely. During the school year I get up at 6:00 in the morning. I've gone to bed at 6:00 in the morning most days this summer.

I got my first tattoo. I'm seeing a tattoo artist, which is how I ended up with one. Will likely get more added to it.

I play trivia on Monday nights.

    That's about it.

I go back to work on July 28th, so I'll have to get my room put back together the week before that.

    Help my wife's parents move

Fixed a toilet. It still doesn't work right.

Rearranged my garage so my wife and I park our cars on different sides. She was at work when I did it. I almost forgot to tell her.

Had the water heater replaced. No change in quality of life.

Today I'm taking the cat to have his teeth cleaned.

Coming up: A trip to New York City, jury duty, moving my classroom.

I still have to get up early because if my wife went to work an I was still in bed, it would not end well for me.

I just completed my first year of teaching and I have been on summer vacation since June 6th and I'm bored and restless! I never realized how much my work impacted my happiness and self appreciation. Will this get better in time or should I look for a part time job? Id like to work in my classroom but it's being painted and getting new carpet.

I have deep cleaned my entire house, numerous beach days, pool days, family visits, read a few books, tried a few new recipes, and made a few Pinterest projects.

Anyone else as restless as I am?

Swimming, walking, 2 weeks worth of T25 which is a GREAT workout, and A LOT of eating out with the husband and son. My husband works nights, so it's nice to be able to spend some time with him.

I understand how you feel. Since I retired, I really never realized how much of my day was taken up with school stuff...even in the summer. I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs a good part of the day! Trying to find a good hobby now.

We've been out for 3 weeks. I've been taking my kids to story time at the library, we went on vacation to Jellystone Park, had my kids' birthday party, moved the toys to their rooms (we've been using the breakfast room as a playroom). So, I've been busy, but they have been letting me sleep in til 7 (they usually wake around 5:30).
