I am a first year Summer School teacher and I am having trouble reaching the students (6,7, and 8th grade). I wanted my class to be technology based as I have access to laptops at all times and students seem more inclined to work on laptops rather than writing based activities. I have four weeks total (3 weeks left now). My plan was to do a career based research project for the last two weeks, but I am open to changing that as well, but I need activities to at least complete this week in class. Anyone have any ideas as to what to use in a Middle School Summer ELA class? It does not have to be on computers, but I enjoy using them with students. Thanks !

Have you tried playing Kahoot!? My kids LOVED playing this as part of their review for TNReady. Do you have access to any novels? Maybe you could assess students to see where they are and what skills they need to work on and try small groups. What plans do you already have besides the career based research project? Also, what did you plan on doing for this project?
