My friend is teaching special ed summer school.
She is doing 6 weeks based on the Olympics theme.
She has 13-15 year olds. So the material she uses must interest students that age. However, their abilities are 4-6 grade. Any suggestions?
    She is looking for:
    1) a read aloud book
    2) a book for the students to read
    3) math games, activites based on the olympic events
    4) other ideas

    Thanks in advance.

i used to do a unit using AIMS
the olympics events i would run outside of my classroom were using straws as javelins- see who threw it the farthest (you could use wood chop sticks). Shot put was croquet (sp) balls. The running broad jump with a tape measure. Running races with a baton for group relay. the kids could have a chart to list their scores and keep track of data....
