I don’t even know what movies come out this summer.

DH and I do sometimes go to a matinee in the summer, but not often. We might go more if we had a theater nearby. The closest is 25 miles, in the next county.

Yeah, I only know about movies coming out if I pass by the theater and see them (and even seeing their names I don't know what they are most times LOL). I don't watch tv so I don't see ads for them. In the summer I am more likely to go to the drive in than a regular theater and there I get to see a double feature!

I thought Detective Pikachu was cute and fun, if not necessarily good.

I'm excited for Spiderman, Late Night, Judy. I'm sure there are others I'll see with my husband.

Dark Phoenix was 4.5 stars, don't see why it warrants the subpar reviews from the movie experts. I really hope more X-Men are on the way before the New Mutants!

With those snack prices, the theaters will make sure to make their money. That popcorn is the bomb though.

That's why I love going to the drive-in. We bring snacks and sometimes even dinner. The ticket prices and snack prices have really gone through the roof.

What does everyone's normal movie trip cost? Mine usually runs $30-$35.

Update: I saw The Secret Life of Pets: 2 and Aladdin and will see Anna, Toy Story 4, Men in Black: International, Shaft, and John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. Thanks!

I am going to see Anna tonight and just bought my ticket on Flixster! ;)

I've had students to tell me this same thing. I seriously thought about that today. The same $5 pack of Snickers is only $2 at a dollar store.

I've read that theaters add Flavacol to their popcorn. Could I just add this to microwave popcorn and get a similar taste? Also, how can I replicate the Coca Cola Icee???

I don’t recommend eating movie popcorn because it is extremely unhealthy. It contains a butter substitute called butter fat. I’m not joking you, they literally melt fat and pour it over the popcorn. That is why it tastes so good because we’ve evolved to covet the taste of fat...

MIB and Shaft are just overplayed imo. I might still go and see Aladdin.

I don't, for a number of reasons. The theater itself makes most of its money off of the snacks they sell. That's why there's such a mark up. A very large percentage of the admission price goes back to the studio (as it should - it's how the artists who create the movie get paid.) But, in order to keep the lights on at the theater and be able to hire people to operate projectors, clean, and sell concessions, they have to charge for the only other thing they control: the snacks. It's part of why so many theaters are switching to high-end items: wine, beer, etc.

We do pay for a monthly movie club where we get one free ticket a month and a discount on concessions.

I can’t sit still long enough to watch a movie, plus the action on a large screen aggravates my vertigo, so we only watch movies at home. Plenty of snacks!

I usually see movies at a faster pace than I am now, so only saw Ma & John Wick 3 so far at this point.

I also want to add the next Annabelle, It: Ch. 2, and MIB part 3.

    Stuber
    Crawl
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Great, yes I've always loved the movies! I used to belong to a program called MoviePass in which I could see as many movies a month as I wanted for just $10/mo, but there were problems w/ the program & it wasn't worth the hassle.

Stopped eating popcorn. No matter what, it sticks in my teeth. I'm falling apart!

Couldn't you just freeze a coke, and then put it in a Nutribullet on slow speed?
