I recently got the students put into reading groups. I have two that score independent on the DRA on level 40. (with flying colors you could say) I plan on putting them into a literacy group together and have them do a book project, much like a literacy circle together. I know the boy enjoys reading Hardy Boys, the girl seems to like fantasy books. What are some suggested books I can have them read together. According to the boy's parents he is at a sixth grade reading level. I think both would be able to handle complex themes.
    ideas I have:
    Inkheart
    Esperanza Rising
    Leven Thumps
    Peter Pan
Peter Pan and the star catchers (Dave Berry)
    Margaret Haddix books (great author)
    Percy Jackson: The Olympians series
    Tanglewreck by Jeanette Winterson
any suggestions or criticism of this list would be very much so appreciated.

last year (in 4th) I had two students that were at reading 9th and 10th grade levels, I used books that were just above our grade level and worked with them to go deeper with comprehension.

Thank you. I was planning on centering around fourth grade level books. Some of the books I mentioned earlier are around 4th grade starting levels.
