What is the average pay for substitutes in ya'lls districts or areas? here in northeast georgia, it's usually $50 a day. but i think that you have to stay the entire day from first to last class.

wow! honestly, the last time that i heard the pay rate was when i was in like 6th grade. so it's very possible it's higher now. i haven't taken the training class yet or started subbing yet. i'd love it if it was like 90 a day or something like that. heck even 10 dollars more at 60 would be great.

Wow, $50 does seem really low. The lowest I've seen around here is $60, but most of the districts are between $70-$90.

Then you might end up in the same boat as me. NO JOB. Subs are greatly needed but not teachers.

that sucks. it's somewhat hard down here to find a job too. i know a lady's husband graduated from my college and can't find a job. in a way it's actually good though because my college says that once you graduate from their school program, if in 6 months you can't find a job, and you have to have proof that you looked, then you no longer have to pay for your tuition and they will reimburse your money.

It also depends on your education. Here the starting pay in my district is 40 and works up to 75. In San antonio its a little different. In another district I work for certified only get 65. I think it really depends on the district.

Most districts around here have different sub rates for licensed and non-licensed teachers as well. It's usually a difference of about $5-$10 a day.

In my district where I live, it is $90 a day for the first 30 days, $110 for 31-49, and $144 for the remainder of the year.

Where I teach, they pay $80 a day.

They increased the rate from this school year otherwise it was 120$. About the average living expenses I don't know, but silicon valley is pretty expensive.

On the East side of Washington state (Spokane) I made about $80 a day (that was 3 years ago). I live in the Seattle area now and make $120 ($70 half day) in one district and $140 ($80 half day) in another district. You must be a certified teacher to substitute. We do have laws in place to allow those with any type of a bachelors degrees to substitute in emergency situations, but I've never seen a district that really needed/used uncertified subs.

Our state minimum wage is $7.63 cents. A sub's work day is usually 7.5 to 9 hours. It would be outrageous for a person with a bachelors to be making minimum wage. I used to make more waitressing than subbing (there is no reduced min. wage for tipped employees) until I moved across the state.

    $85-95

In a more rural Northeast Ohio county I can be payed anywhere from $85-95 a day, for the first five consecutive days, after that, the pay is raised. For this area, it's a nice sum. Not extravagent but not too "low"

In Naples, FL it is (b/c I have a bachelor's degree) 11.64 an hour (but each day is 7.5 hours - even though I hardly call it a lunch break - usually I am trying to pull things together for the remainder of the day). And of course no benefits.

In my area of Michigan, it does not go below $70. The district I sub for says $75-$140 a day. You have to be certified and in a long term position for the 140.
