:confused:I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person, and am generally able to handle most things. Unfortunately, I have come upon a problem that I have been unable to solve. :help: I generally wear slacks and a nice blouse/sweater to work. When wearing slacks, I tend to wear matching socks, and flat shoes (either black or brown). Here's the problem: my socks won't stay put! They are constantly slipping down into my shoes, and I can't find a way to stop it! I am forever reaching down into my shoes and pulling my socks up -- an activity that definitely does NOT look very professional!:woot: I would appreciate any solutions y'all could offer, because I am sick of it!

Simple solution. Buy a different brand of socks. I had the same problem when I bought all my socks at Payless. I love those socks, but they slipped. I switched to a different brand at Walmart (faded glory I think) and that problem stopped.

ROFL, cutNglue! These came from Walmart! They are the "super soft" thin socks that fold down at the ankle, and I love them except for this huge irritation!

Rubber bands! Put them around the sock and fold over. That's what I always did with my knee socks when I was growing up.

You know how most students will come up to you saying a certain kid said a bad word...then the word turns out to be 'stupid'. I should have clarified.

Thank you all for your suggestions & commentary. I think I will try the insoles, but not the rubber bands (I'm diabetic -- we have enough circulatory problems as it is!). It is truly an irksome problem, and I'll let y'all know how it is resolved.

They have those rubbery things that you stick on the inside heel of the shoe to keep the heel from slipping. They might also work to keep socks from slipping.

Yup. Either heel inserts or insoles should do the job, I bet.

Probably it is the shoes, yes, but inserts or insoles are generally cheaper than new shoes.

    uhhh....new socks? ;)
boys socks? I live in the boy's dept. stuff fits, lasts longer
    sweaty feet? -foot powder
wrong type of socks...dress socks when you need crew

socks that slouch, like bra straps that slide, and undies that cause wedges become dunk shots in my trash can!

if they don't fit..get rid of them! you will never be comfortable! test them out in the store. walk around with one on up and down a few aisles. if the start sliding when you get home, return them...and try another brand.

if this doesn't work..try support hose.

    don't you mean rubberbands??

didn't you wear 'em with your sweatsocks??

of course, we wanted them to slouch..made our legs look big. ;)

    then again ...there's always tights!

I had that problem until I switched to gold toe socks. Usually can find them really cheap at Target on clearance. Good luck with the problem :)

    Body glue.

Models use it to keep themselves from having wardrobe malfunctions. Ahh, the things you learn with a wife in the fashion industry...

Oh, I used to have to use body glue in track. Short short spandex unitards + a very large rear end + a 2 mile race = a lot of creeping up of the shorts, and some embarassing comments from the teenage boys!!!
It wasn't so bad for the sprinters, but for the distance girls...lots of, let's say, exposure. Haha. So I bought body glue and we stuck our shorts on tight!!

I wear ankle socks because I hate slipping socks. Sometimes you may see my ankle if I sit down, but I'm comfortable.

I thought those were for not slipping on the floor when walking, not for socks falling into your shoes. Hmmmmmmm any one tried those? I might try that. for my boots.

    somebody stole my pants!

sorry PW...i have to hijack because I am so upset!!

somebody just stole my work pants! I am working part time at the drug store. I had two nice pair of dickies work pants. one pair was boys, and other was mens. I know I had them in this load. I know they were dirty, and I know they aren't nowhere else in either house!

what lowlife steals clothes from the dryer? in a condo!

i bet that's what happened to the black women's pair!

what am I gonna do now?! sit and babysit the washer and dryer! If I ever see somebody peek their head in the laundry room and they don't have load of clothes with them, I will be ticked! would I be wrong if I jumped on some young girl in the building wearing my pants! this is not a coincendence! I know those pants were in that load! It's a good thing the left the gray ones, but they don't fit that well!

    GRRRRR!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Do you have fairly large feet? It could be that you need to buy bigger socks. At KMart, they have socks for lg feet and some Plus-sized socks. Since moving up to the PS, I do not have that slippage problem.

I, too, am diabetic and my endrocrinologist told me not to wear any sock but diabetic socks and wow, what a difference in comfort. They are more expensive, but they do not slip down and are so soft I told my husband it was like walking in pudding. The only problem is that unless you order them, they only come in white, or maybe if you are very lucky, tan. Usually get them at Walmart, but drug stores often carry them. Try them.

    Trouser socks

Trouser socks usually stay in place or you could go back to the old fashioned hose...

Okay, I tested my new socks for you today. They are from Walmart. They are trouser socks made by George. 15 hours later and I haven't pulled them back up not even one time. I seriously used to have this problem. The top part of the sock that is supposed to hold onto your leg (you know the band) is not the only necessary criteria. Some of the actual socks are more spandex molding than others. I find that the whole sock should mold to you and need to be stretchy (not tight).
