One princpal E-Mailed me back today only to inform me that they're not looking to hire anyone for the 2009-2010 school year, but that they are looking to cut people. :(

    Stupid budget cuts!...

Sorry to hear that, SG. The schools in this area are doing the same. There was a board meeting on Thursday where 18 more positions were decided to be cut. That included 6 counselors and maintenance workers, and 2 librarians, and some office personnel. These are not good times.

Thanks TamiJ! You can sure say that again! :haha:

It's a small district so it makes you wonder just who'll be cut. I bet classrooms will be bigger as a result of the cuts.

This was the first time anyone told me there'd be any cuts.

Not only do I feel sorry for those who'll loose their jobs, but I also feel sorry for the kids.

Agreed! The kids ultimately suffer. I know the districts here are going to increase class sizes, except for k-3 (thank God!!!!). We are losing important programs left and right. In the end, I don't know how the kids are going to be able to learn. Our classrooms are already big (30 plus kids), and most of those kids are from low socioeconomic households, and come with the issues that typically surround low socioeconomics. We have gangs, drugs, crimes, etc. It's not a good situation, and it's only getting worse.

Yah, they've told us that we should expect larger class sizes next year. My classes are already running at 40-45....I can't imagine trying to fit any more kiddos in the room!

Holy Cow! That's a lot of kids. They can't really be learning anything, can they?

The crazy budget cuts made me rethink moving forward with my Master's degree. (Although I blame that on the economy in general as well...LOL) I figure there's no reason for me to end up with more student loan debt and still not be able to find a teaching position. I've got my subject area certifications and hopefully I'll be able to get a job before they expire...*fingers crossed*
