Do people teach this? I was reading aloud yesterday and the word "stupid" was in the book. As soon as I read it, the students all gasped and had shocked looks on their faces with several making comments on how they can't believe I said that. I had to stop and convince them that although of course you should never call someone or yourself stupid, because that's mean, it's certainly not a "cuss word." They had literally been taught that it's equal to a four letter swear word in 2nd grade. Is this common?
