Stuff that makes you ask, "What ARE YOU thinking?"

SO, here's one for a take off...
-After a dental visit, the office gives you two "WARM" sugar cookies!
...I told them, "So you want me back here sooner than I want to?" They just told me about the damage that "SUGAR", and other stuff has done to my teeth, and they are trying to get it back in my teeth faster than I plan to! (What? Hypocrisy!?!)
    Y'all know what became breakfast.

I have had my dentist tell me multiple times to never use the toothpaste with whitening agent for some reason I can't think of right now, but every sample toothpaste they give me has whitening agent. I even pointed it out to them and asked why they gave out these samples if they are so much against the whitening toothpastes.

The local dentist was always my best customer when I sold Girl Scout cookies. He would buy several cases every year. Even as a third grader, I was able to see the irony in that... :)

....when the first four respondents just talk about the dentist instead of answering the question....

My BF always thought it was crazy how dentists used to (or maybe still do) give lollipops to kids at the end of a dental visit.

Actually..he starts with "here's one to take off".

The title of the thread is "Stuff that makes you ask, "What were you thinking?"" meaning he wants you to post similar stories. My story was the fact that no one responded to his prompt as desired made me think "What were you all thinking?"

    Anyway, off my soapbox.

So threads are just supposed to be lists of stand-alone posts with not continuity, no commentary, no follow-ups, no commiserating, and no expanding? Interesting.

I'm curious why they don't suggest whitening toothpaste. I bought some a while back and two days later a filling fell out. I wonder if they're related...

I've had some issues with sensitivity to hot and cold. My dentist told me not to use any of the whitening or "complete" toothpastes because they would exacerbate the sensitivity issue. He always recommends Pronamel, and that's what he gives me as a sample. It's not my favorite (I prefer gel to the pasty kinds of toothpaste), but it does work so I use it.

I can't imagine that any toothpaste would cause a filling to fall out.

Yes, it would seem THAT certainly wouldn't pass tests... But I still haven't used it sense because I'm paranoid.

Caesar do you use Pronamel Gentle Whitening or just the regular Pronamel? If you use the whitening do you find that it works? I want to whiten my teeth but the strips make my teeth hurst too much to stick with it.

I have been using the regular Pronamel. I haven't found any whitening product, even Pronamel, that has worked around my sensitivity problem. :(

I also just use the strips less frequently rather than all in a row because I have pretty sensitive teeth. They still make a difference as long as you aren't looking for a drastic change.

Here's one for you -- the pediatrician who has a treasure chest... and the prizes have small parts... too small to be safe with young children....

:hugs: Rebel. I just finished two years of getting my teeth back in shape. I hate the dentist. I think I only saw the whole thing through because he's cute

I used to work in a doctor's office. Around Christmas time people from the orthodontist's office in the same building passed around bags of candy

One of my younger brothers is a dentist back home.
It would be cool to have him work on my teeth, BUT then
I would have to take 2 weeks from work, and travel; which I
am not too comfty with. I will have to return next month for my next servings of 2 more warm sugar cookies, and start work on my teeth.

I've been whitening my teeth for years. I wonder if whitening toothpastes and whitening stips cause harmful damage down the road?

    Glad to know that Chebrutta.
I don't like dentist visits, and this one I avoided far too long. It would have cost a lot less IF I took care of it when they told me about it during the last visit.

    OKAY!
Here's the 2nd one that has made me ask, "What are you thinking?"
-This teacher has her child in her class. She lets her take her toys outside to play with, BUT won't let the other children do it.She is not being fair, and does not seem to get it, even after being made aware of what she's doing. She is not thinking at all about this one; ignorance?
