This is a major problem in my school. It's never been dealt with appropriately and I have yet to find a solution that doesn't send parents into a fit. I go through at least 25 pencils a week sometimes. We are told, because some students don't have responsible parents that get supplies or can't afford them, that we can't or shouldn't give demerits for this (so many demerits = detention). We're pretty much expected to just give them a pencil and be done with it. This absolutely drives me crazy. I don't want to be given one of their shoes or clothes for borrowing one either. My latest idea was to make whoever came without a pencil one to use and then make them the last to leave or tape a big flower to the end of my pencils so they are always turned in. Is this a problem for anyone else? If so, how do you deal with it? Or am I just maing a big deal out of something small?
