So how many times have YOU heard about the Rays lately? Any from your students? I have die-hard fans in my classroom- you hear them talk and random words that I overhear are "Evan Longoria" and "Scott Kazmir"... etc, etc.

Overall, though, thankfully none of my students have mohawks!!

It's like this huge deal... there's kids as young as kindergarteners with mohawks. Probably a good twenty kids in the school have them. Being forty-five minutes away from Tropicana Field does NOT help!! Aaaa...

I have one with a mohawk, but it has nothing to do with baseball. It's hilarious that they are following that trend, though!

I remember in HS in the 80's there being a mohawk craze... mostly the football players did it. I've only seen a couple around here now with it... but the rays aren't that big of a thing around here.

I have a first grader with a mohawk. I keep telling him he needs to put some product in it to make it stand up straight.

:cool:My son's b/f has one. I think its adorable and he is a great kid. some people kinda freak out about it, and say it is improper or a "bad" thing... It's a trend and it will come and go...

Our football team did mohawks this year.

My highschool (early 90s) boyfriend had a mohawk. My mom would make it stand up for him (lots of hair spray and and a hair dryer) on the days he would pick me up for school.

I had two with mohawks last year. I loved it!

When my 3-yr-old got ahold of scissors and cut his own hair, my husband shaved his head. When he had the clippers in his hand I told him to give him a mohawk. He didn't. I was a little disappointed.

But, hey, I've always been a rebel at heart.

Hey M. Jasztal, where are you teaching? I'm also about 30-45 minutes from Tropicana Field (Bradenton/Sarasota Area).

Ah, even though I am a NYer at heart, it was nice to see that the Rays finally get the chance to play in the World Series.

Coming from a Sox fan, CONGRATULATIONS! Your team really stepped up to the plate. (Hey, it wasn't my intention to write that.)

Since I like to consider Tampa Bay my second home (family there), I hope the Rays go all the way!

And no, I have never liked the mohawk look.

I have two students with mohawks; it is no big deal and the other kids haven't even mentioned it.

You know what the Rays did for the kid who was suspended for outlandish/distracting haircut???
They all did the Mohawks and rallied in support of that kid, got him big publicity, made him a hero!

I've got "Ray-hawks" popping up all over my school. Two new ones in my classroom today. I makes me laugh. Elementary-aged kids with mohawks kind of takes the street cred out of the look, don't you think? Cracks me up.

I did have a boy with a fauxhawk a few weeks ago... it was cute in its way.

Some kids in our school have done a better job than others. Some look sort of strange.

I don't know if I'd ever do it with my (hypothetical, lol) son (I am a type of person who likes to experiment with different things, though I've always generally looked the same.). I guess if he went to the baseball game, I'd get very temporary blue dye in his hair and give him a fauxhawk.

    OH the Mohawks..

At my elementary school mohawks are so common i don't even notice them anymore. In fact at this moment I have a student with a mohawk shaped into an arrow that is aimed at his forehead.

Last year I had a student with an AMAZING hair cut there was literally a spiderweb and a spider shaved into his head.
