Do you put your student teaching on your resume? Does it depend on how long ago it was or how much teaching experience you have? I already have a lot of other experience with kids on my resume so I was wondering what people thought.I talk about student teaching in my cover letter. Is that enough?

    Thanks!

I do not have student teaching on my resume for two reasons:
    1. It was 13yrs. ago
    2. I have subbing, aide/asst., and 6yrs. w/my own classroom

This really depends on how long you have been out of university and how much experience you have earned since that point.

I agree with jw. I don't have student teaching on my resume because I've taught 2 years in my own classroom, and have two years subbing/tutoring (after moving).

I still have my student teaching on my resume but it's under "education", not "experience". Maybe that's the best place for it.

I do have student teaching on my resume, and it is under experience. However, I have one year of having my own class. I think it depends on how long ago it was and what else you have to put on the resume.

I have my student teaching in elem ed (last spring) on my resume- but not my student teaching in music k-12 many years ago.

Here are my thoughts on it...

    was it an impressive district?
    was it recent?
are you using people FROM this district as references?

yes to any of those? I would say, yes- list it.

My education professors say to absolutely put your student teaching experience under experience.
This is especially true if you're fresh out of college and lack educational experience.

I just got out of school (last May) so I have it on my resume under "experience" because that's really my only "traditional classroom" exp. w/ children. I figured it's a start!! lol
