    Hi all!

I'm a Title 1 reading teacher who is looking for ideas/strategies for my 4th and 5th grade struggling readers. My teaching experience is in early childhood, so this is way out of my comfort zone!

According to universal screening data these kids are slow, accurate, and deliberate readers. They know their phonics skills and they can comprehend, they are just slow readers.

I have to see these students on intensive plans for the entire year (don't get me started on why). I know fluency is a large area of need, however, fluency will get very boring when working on it all year. What else is there to do that will hit at their fluency deficit?

    Thanks!

To increase interest, could you do more readers theater kind of work?
