I have been teaching for nine years and up until last year we did lots of fun holiday activities with the kids. This was a time where we did fun art projects that we usually don't have time for. Our curriculum specialists have decided that our 3rd graded will take the 9 weeks test the week we get out of school for the holidays. Next week on separate days we will have reading, language, science and math nine weeks tests. The kids are already so excited about Christmas, Santa, and their elves that they are not concentrating on anything. The worst is that the teachers are held accountable for the results of these tests and we have to create reports on why each students wasn't successful in certain areas. Well, hello? Haven't you noticed what time of year it is? I mean they literally have their holiday party the day right after testing ends. Anyone else out there feel my pain?
