Well if they are at school they are probably talking about their class.
And if they are not at school, I have no clue! "My parents are so clueless!" "My kids just make me smile!"
I imagine even at school teachers sometimes talk about their very own beloved, right?
I hope you can cheer up, Molly. Did you know that life can suck when you are married?! Being married is not really all it's cracked up to be. I do agree with Life sucks,.....and then you die! I have always struggled with happiness myself. I take it a moment at a time.
You know what bugs me, when I go to Open House at my own children's school or something else at their school and the their teacher says "Your students" when talking to us parents. I just want to say, no they are YOUR students and they are MY children. That really bugs me!
Yet ANOTHER stupid SNOW day!!!!!!!!!!
I'll take that stupid snow day from you!!!!
It wouldn't be so bad if there were more than 1/2 inch of snow outside! They closed school because the temperature was 19degrees, and the snow from yesterday melted a little bit and then froze up. A 2 hour delay would have been better!
Do you have to make those days up at the end of the year? We get 5 per year before we have to make any up.
We get five snow days a year built in to. But if we don't use them we get out five days earlier! NO SNOW I DON'T WANT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is 7:27 pm on Friday night, I drank a can of Coke to try keep myself awake and it hasn't worked. I am off to the shower and bed. ...Oh, to be young again! . Now I only have to worry about how often I will have to use the restroom tonight because of the Coke I drank .
I am fighting the urge to click my heels together while saying "I wish I was younger, I wish I was younger!"
Lucky you! If we don't use them we don't get to get out earlier. I wish that is how it worked here!
That is kind of asinine isn't it?
Sure is! That is why we just keep on doing that snow dance everytime there is storm warnings.
I hate that my colleague complains about everything and is starting to drag me down with her.
Molly. I do understand where you are coming from. Being single is an old hat to wear after awhile, and hearing one more person telling you to "enjoy your freedom" makes light of the pain of being single year, after year. Yes, marriage is tough too, but there's plenty of us who would gladly give up our "freedom" for the right person. That said, don't get too down, and too discouraged. There is good to find in everything, really. Whatever you are going through now, see what it is you can learn from it. I have grown stronger and more confident in my singledom. Honestly, if I kept thinking 'life sucks, and then you die' I think eventually that attitude would wear on my countenance. Remember, an attractive spirit and heart is what counts. Hang in there!
I'm in Washington too and we had 2 snow days this week but were 2 hours late today.
Long Island NEEDS some snow!
I love my job. I work in a pretty nice place.
I love mine too. They made it as easy as possible for me to return to work: one prep (and 7th grade at that!), no homeroom, no activities.
My classroom is rather large and very homey and comfy. We are like one big, happy family. I love the atmosphere. It is uplifting and happy.
Just a little
No school Monday.....
We have school on Monday.
We have NO snow yet! The poor kids. I don't want any!
No kids Monday, staff development day. I'd rather have the kids.
Isn't it a national holiday?
I believe so, ALice. But no one in our area has off. Do you get off for President's day, too? We don't have off for that, either.
We get President's Week off!
It's a carryover from the energy crisis in the 70's. We closed 2 days a week then (Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays.) It just became too expensiive to re-heat the schools after each day off. So February Break was born, and is alive and well on LI
Oh, that is so nice! Wish it was like that around here, but I don't know of ANY districts nearby that have off for either one of those holidays.

We have 3 snow days built into the calendar--but we still have to make up days in the summer because not only did we get two snow storms, we got one huge wind storm that knocked power out for a week--no school then either!!! The news just reported that IF the governer declares a state of emergency in a certain county, then the students don't have to make up those days if the cancelation of school is related to the emergency.
I was so looking forward to going skiing tomorrow and driving back up to Scaryville on Monday. But now we are getting a Nor'Easter that is suppose to start tomorrow afternoon and continue until Tuesday. Suppose I have to go back up to stupid Scaryville tomorrow.
I never knew you worked in a town called "Scaryville"
And this is coming to you from someone living in "Hicksville"
That stinks Kinders. We get off MLK day and we have Feb break to have Presidents' birthdays off.
Also, we get Patriots day off in April. But they make it so we have April Vacation during that week.
