I saw this on another board and thought there might be some more ideas from the folks here. Did you every celebrate your state's birthday? We are going to have a Happy Birthday Pennsylvania party on December 12. The date it became a state. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

That sounds like a great idea! I've never had a birthday party but when I taught 4th graders, I taught them how to square dance. The legislature has tried several times to make it the official folk dance of the state but I don't know if it ever actually passed. You could try a polka as well. There is one kind where boys and girls wouldn't have to touch each other.
You could have party food represented by crops (like corn and of course chocolate). Love the idea!
