I looked at the calendar this morning: it's August 2nd! My teachers officially return on Tuesday, August 11th; however, many of them will most likely pick up their classroom keys this week so they can get a head start. The week they return to school is PACKED! Tuesday the 11th: Site-level meetings (welcome back breakfast hosted by my principal and me followed by trainings/meetings). Wednesday the 12th: District-level meetings (off-site) that'll train them on the new math program we've adopted. Additionally, they'll be trained on other new programs we're using (AERIES.net). Thursday the 13th: Child abuse mandated reporter training in the AM and classroom set-up in the PM. Friday the 14th: Classroom set-up (continued). The district only allows them to have 1.5 days for classroom set-up; therefore, many of our oh-so-dedicated teachers will begin working this week. First day of school is Monday, August 17th! Bring on the craziness!
I officially start back tomorrow. Open House is on Wednesday. We have an off site district professional learning on Thursday. Students start on Friday!
I'm in transition my old job starts Aug 3 (teachers return) Aug 5 (students come back). Now having said that, I just accepted a new position at a new district on Friday. My new job starts Aug 8/9 depending on paperwork. Students return Aug 24. So between now and the 24 I have to: Formally resign at my old job (hello awkward) Pack up my old classroom by Wednesday Aug 5 Unpack and prepare my new classroom Maybe do some lesson planing? It's gonna be fun! Hope everyone's summer was fantastic
I'm actually looking forward to going back to work. We report back on the 11th with 1 day to work in our rooms and 3 days of meetings and PD for a new math curriculum. We do back to school conferences with students and parents 17th and 18th, and start with students on the 20th. I've got a new coffee cup. It's black and just says, "Coffee". Bring on the new school year! I'm ready!
Per state law, schools here don't start until September 8th this year. (Year round and extended year schools can start in August.) Teacher days vary. The district I worked in last year only had one day before the year started!
I start back on the 13th, unless I'm offered the other position that I really want and then I start on the 10th for new teacher orientation.
I start back Sept. 1st and school starts 2 days later. We're not really given time to work on our classrooms as all staff days are dedicated to meetings and trainings, so I'll probably go in at the end of August when we're allowed in the building. I kind of can't wait to go back! this is my first summer in many years that I haven't worked or taken courses and I'm getting restless...
Teachers 9/1. Kids 9/2. We have off for Labor Fat, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur. So one 5 day week in September. The rest are 4 day weeks.
We start on the 10th for a week of PD and meetings and all that. I'm rather excited to go back. School starts the 17th.
We have the same schedule as YoungTeacherGuy's district, except we only get one day in our rooms. August 3rd and 4th (tomorrow and Tuesday) are optional paid work days for middle/high school math teachers. I think seven of the eleven math teachers from my school will be there.
I go back on Aug. 12 and the kids on Aug 14. However, Open House is Aug. 11. My room is 95% ready, just need to laminate a couple of things and rehang some stuff.
Teachers report on August 31, kiddos report the day after Labor Day. I'm stressing because the soonest I can get into my room is August 28. I usually try to go in for two or three days before teachers officially report to get set up, but can't this year because of renovation... and I don't even know where in the building I will be this year, or how many kids I'll have. It's also possible (even likely) that I will need to switch classrooms over Columbus Day weekend.
Teachers go back Friday, the 7th. Back to school night the 13th. Students start the 17th. Many teachers (including myself) were at school last week and their classrooms are ready. Our Principal has schedule all of our first committee meetings of the year before teachers officially have to start, and since I am on a couple of committees I need to spend a couple extra days at school next week.
Teachers - Aug. 10 Students - Aug. 12 I plan to go in every day starting tomorrow. I need to get back on a regular sleeping schedule!
Me, too! I have this summer routine of staying up to crazy hours (like 2 or 3 am) and sleeping until around 8. Once school starts back I'm up at 4:45. It's so not going to be fun. :help:
I went back last Wednesday. Open house was Thursday night. Kids come August 5th. That's a day later than last year.
Teachers report August 7. Kids start school on August 11. Before then, I'll be keeping busy! New teacher orientation is tomorrow at my school, and then I plan to be there all day, every day this week to decorate and lesson plan. I didn't get my keys until last Thursday, so I'm feeling a bit stressed.
Officially, August 10 for teachers, August 17 for students. We have to do 5 days of PD over the summer, so I did 4 last week and have 1 this week. We get no time for room set up, so I will be finishing that this week.
Teachers go back August 5th (but I start tomorrow, August 3rd, as a new-to-the-district teacher). Students start August 12th. I started spending a few hours in my room last Wednesday... sorting through 20+ years worth of stuff!
Teachers-Tomorrow, August 3rd Students-Monday, August 10th (also start date for Paraprofessionals) Even though I am a Paraprofessional, I will probably go in one day during the week help set up the locker rooms (I work in Physical Education) before our school's Open House on Friday, August 7th. As youngteacherguy stated, We (educators) always make it work somehow! We can do this! Hope everyone has a great school year!
I start tomorrow! I'm new to the district, so I have 3 new teacher days. Returning teachers start August 6th. Students start August 12th.
First official day back is August 17 with all day meetings. Parent night is August 17. No doubt I will be in the week before to unpack and arrange.
Our office staff starts tomorrow and thank goodness. We still had moderate construction and repairs going on last week with a sign in the door stating the school was closed and the office staff would be back when. But... the construction crew propped open the door and heaven help you if you were a teacher caught at the copier up front when patents wandered in with "I know you guys are closed but..." and then getting upset the teachers didn't have the knowledge or access the office folk do.
Teachers September 8th, Students September 9th. We can go in the week before to set up our rooms. As far as I'm concerned I still have 5 good solid weeks of vacation! We didn't get out until June 26th so I'm right smack in the middle of summer vacation.
This is my first teaching job, so I have orientation the 10th-13th. Teachers start the 17th and students the 24th. My paperwork is still being processed with HR though, so I haven't been told what we'll be doing each day the first week or really anything. I'm panicking a bit.
Teachers: August 4 Students: August 10 Meet the teacher is August 6, AKA this Thursday. I've already been back since last Monday for a few hours a day M-F, and I'm going in tomorrow all day.
The teachers at my school have two days of PD on Aug 10-11. I will be out of town then on vacation and won't be back until Aug 19, so I plan on going in a couple of days this week to set the room up. Parent Day is Aug 20,the kids come back Aug 24.
We've had trainings last week & this week! Then we have 2 whole weeks to set up our classrooms and the kids return on the 24th!
Teachers go back on the 25th, and students start on Sept. 1. So glad that, unlike many of you, I still have several weeks of summer!
I've been in and out of my room since mid-July painting and getting things ready (first real classroom teaching job!) Luckily the office was open most of the summer. We were able to pick up keys Friday afternoon. Teachers: August 5th Meet-n-Greet: August 10th Students: August 11th
Teachers officially go back August 10th and students go back August 17th. I will have students August 14th though for a partial day orientation. There is no time that first week to set up the classroom, so I have been in there several times already. My goal is to try and stay away from school this week and enjoy my last week of vacation.
